President Droupadi Murmu hosted a dinner on Wednesday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the outgoing council of ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

"President Droupadi Murmu hosted a dinner for the outgoing Union Council of Ministers, led by Prime Minister @narendramodi, at Rashtrapati Bhavan," the President's office said in a post on 'X'.

The event was also attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

After INDIA bloc meeting chaired by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge,Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi leader ER Eswaran said that mandate was with the opposition coalition, but the numbers were not.

"The mandate is clearly for the INDIA bloc. But the situation is not conducive and numbers are not with us,"Eswaran said while speaking to news agency ANI.

Congress President Mallikarjun Khagre on Wednesday said that the INDIA bloc will continue will fight against the fascist rule of the BJP led by PM Modi.

"The INDIA bloc will continue will fight against the fascist rule of the BJP led by PM Modi. We will take the appropriate steps at the appropriate time to realise the people's desire not to be ruled by the BJP's government," Kharge said after the meeting of opposition parties.

Leaders of the INDIA alliance, including Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, Raghav Chadha, Sharad Pawar, D Raja, Sanjay Raut, Akhilesh Yadav, Champai Soren, Supriya Sule and others after their meeting at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday said that the BJP-led government will work with the Congress, which won both the Lok Sabha seats in the state, for the growth and development of all sections of people.

"The public has given its mandate, and what truly matters is that we all aspire for the welfare of all the Indigenous people of the state. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji, the BJP government will continue to work with the elected representatives towards the growth and development of all sections in the state," Singh said.

Chief ministers of all BJP-ruled states have been called to Delhi by the party leadership for a crucial meeting on June 7, sources told India Today TV.

The meeting of chief ministers and party leadership will take place at BJP headquarters. Notably, the NDA is likely to stake claim to form government at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership on June 7.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday chaired a meeting of all INDIA bloc partners at his residence in New Delhi.

During the meeting, Kharge thanked all partners for contesting Lok Sabha elections against the BJP unitedly.

"The mandate is decisively against Narendra Modi and the style of his politics. It is a huge political loss for him personally apart from being a clear moral defeat as well," Kharge said.

Leaders of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance unanimously elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the ruling bloc's leader on Wednesday, passing a resolution to underscore the government's commitment to serving the poor, women, youths, farmers and deprived sections of society.

"We are all proud that the NDA fought the 2024 Lok Sabha polls unitedly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and won. We all NDA leaders unanimously elect Narendra Modi as our leader," it added.

The resolution also said that people have seen the country being developed in every sector in the last 10 years due to the pro-people policies of the NDA government under Modi.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will stake claim to form government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the third consecutive time on June 7 (Friday), sources told India Today TV. The decision was taken during a crucial meeting of NDA partners chaired by PM Modi at his official residence.

During the meeting,all NDA leaders congratulated PM Modi for his leadership and the strides the country has made under him. They appreciated the Prime Minister's "hard work and efforts" in nation building.

President Droupadi Murmu dissolved the 17th Lok Sabha on Wednesday on the advice of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Cabinet, according to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.The Cabinet, in its meeting held on Wednesday, advised the President to dissolve the current Lok Sabha with immediate effect, it said.

"The President has accepted the advice of the Cabinet on 05.06.2024 and signed the Order dissolving the 17th Lok Sabha in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by Sub-clause (b) of Clause (2) of Article 85 of the Constitution," a communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan read.

NDA partners on Wednesday handed over the letter of support to the BJP, paving the way for PM Modi to return to power for the third consecutive time.

The letter was handed over to the BJP soon after the NDA meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence.

Amid suspense over whether the TDP and JD(U) will join the opposition alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday asked people to "wait and watch."

Yadav, who travelled to Delhi from Patna in the same flight as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did, fuelling speculations if there were attempts to get him to the opposition's camp, said their interaction in the flight was limited to exchanging courtesies.

Asked if the opposition is looking at getting the numbers to stake claim for government formation, Yadav said, "We have come for the meeting today. Have patience, wait and watch what happens."

Senior leaders of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance deliberated on the details of government formation at a meeting here Wednesday, a day after the ruling coalition won a majority in the Lok Sabha election which paved the way for a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sources told India Today TV that NDA ally Janata Dal (Secular) has not demanded any Cabinet berth, but was hopeful thatformer Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamybe accommodated as a Cabinet minister.

Speaking to reporters about the demands of the JD(S) from NDA, Kumaraswamy said,"We don't have any such demand. Our priority is resolution of issues concerning Karnataka that have been there for long from the Centre. About giving representation (Cabinet berth) to Karnataka at the Centre, Narendra Modi will decide".

The BJP and JD(S) fought the Lok Sabha elections together in Karnataka, which has a total of 28 seats. BJP won 17 seats and JD(S) two.

Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday reached his Delhi residence and will leave shortly to attend the INDIA bloc meeting scheduled later in the day, sources told India Today TV.

INDIA bloc leaders will meet at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on Wednesday evening to decide on the strategy to form the government.

Trinamool Congressnational general secretary and West Bengal MP Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday reached his Delhi residence and will leave shortly for the INDIA bloc meeting scheduled later in the day.

"Let us meet first. Once I come to know, I will certainly share with you (media) the details. I am looking forward to the meeting with a positive mindset," the Dimanond Harbour MP said earlier in the day.

Newly-elected Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma on Wednesday said that he would want Rahul Gandhi to keep the Rae Bareli seat. Raul Gandhi won the Wayanad seat by a margin of more than 3.6 lakh votes and Rae Bareli by a margin of over 3.9 lakh votes.

"I did not give him any advice, it is not my stature to give him advice. It is up to Rahul Gandhi (to decide). Personally, I want him to keep Rae Bareli," Sharma said.

In the last council of ministers meeting of the Modi 2.0 government today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was congratulated for his leadership and support, which helped the NDA get to power for the third time, sources told India Today TV. Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh moved the resolution which was supported by all the ministers present in the meeting.
